I designed a tool to support the installation of optic fiber networks. I successfully convinced the product owner to collaborate closely with end users, a rare approach for internal tools. This collaboration led to a user-friendly and efficient tool that significantly improved the success rate of internet installations for Orange customers.
During my involvement in several optic fiber installations, I observed a significant issue: the absence of diagnostic tools to display the internet configuration status. This gap often led to failed installations and increased customer frustration.
The field studies taught us the needs of other stakeholders involved in the process. This ultimately became a mobile assistant for fiber-optic network installers with indirect but very real benefits for our end customers. This approach has spread beyond the development team, getting decision-making people who were originally unaware of UX to think about the user first.

The corporation requires flawless network hardware operation and up-to-date documentation, the technician needs a tool for diagnosing network status and understanding real-time events, and the end user desires a quick installation and a reliable network. Despite their different perspectives, all three parties share a common goal: a smooth installation process and a bulletproof network.
